A milestone worth sharing
On Thursday, 13 August 2026, we celebrated 30 years of GA MacLachlan Incorporated with a golf day at Durbanville Golf Club – bringing together clients, former clients, staff, friends, family and business associates who have all been part of our journey.
OUR STORY
From a small office at home to 30 years in practice
The practice started very modestly in 1996, from a small flat at the back of our family home in Durbanville. There was no grand business plan – just the idea of doing the books and tax affairs of a few clients and seeing where it might lead.
What followed was steady growth, driven largely by word of mouth, personal referrals and relationships built over many years. Quite a few of those relationships started on the golf course, so perhaps all those Wednesday afternoon rounds really were business development after all!
The greatest privilege of the past 30 years has not simply been building a practice. It has been the people we have met along the way. Many clients became friends. Friends introduced new clients. Staff became part of our extended office family. Some people who are no longer clients remain close friends today.
GIVING BACK
A golf day with a purpose
We wanted our 30-year celebration to achieve something beyond simply celebrating ourselves. We therefore chose to support Grace Animal Sanctuary, and the generosity of our clients, friends, sponsors and guests was remarkable.
Through sponsorships, raffle ticket sales, the charity auction and contributions on the day, together we raised R90,000. Thank you to every person who bought a ticket, bid at the auction, sponsored a hole, donated a prize or contributed in any way.
We also discovered that golfers can become remarkably generous after a few holes and a few refreshments!

I would also like to thank all our clients, friends and associates who could not join us on the day. Although you were not physically there, you are very much part of what we were celebrating.
I am also very conscious that, after 30 years and so many relationships, there may have been clients and friends whom I inadvertently missed when the invitations went out. If you were one of them, please accept my sincere apologies. It was certainly not intentional.
A guest list can never properly reflect 30 years of relationships. Whether you have been with us for three decades or only recently, whether you attended the celebration or not, and even if our professional paths have since gone in different directions, your contribution forms part of the history of GA MacLachlan Incorporated.
This 30-year milestone belongs to all of you too.

Reaching a milestone like this makes one stop and reflect. Business is important, but as the years go by you realise that there are things worth considerably more: good health, family, friendship, loyalty, trust, and having people around you with whom you can share life’s special moments.
The name GA MacLachlan Incorporated may be on the door, but the past 30 years belong to many more people than one person. They belong to our staff, our clients, our families, our friends and everyone who has supported us along the way.
